HMWOutdoors Youth Adventure Film Festival 2017

Introducing the HMWOutdoors.com Adventure Film Festival features films by youth telling stories about youth-powered adventures that create meaningful connections to/in the natural world, facilitating internal growth and environmental awareness. We accept works from filmmakers aged 17 or younger.

Prize

Grand Prize: An HMWOutdoors YAK Sleeper + GoPro HERO Session™
2nd Prize: An HMWOutdoors 1 person backpacking tent
3nd Prize: An HMWOutdoors York 70L multiday pack (The only backpack a youth will never out grow, PERIOD.)
4th Prize: An HMWOutdoors Dry wicking, UV protecting, lightweight torso covering, best T-Shirt ever. (I'm a little excited about the T-Shirt)

Judging:
Films will be review by a distinguished panel of outdoor educators, youth adventurers, and the creative team at HMWOutdoors. Submissions may include but are not limited to:

--documentaries
--adventure
--shorts
--what I learned this summer
--narrative films
--series episodes
--PSAs

Rules: We tried to keep it simple.

1. All films must be submitted by a youth 17 or younger. (Suffice to say, if your dad, aunt, uncle, etc is a professional they should look on admiringly from a distance and not take over your project)

2. The film must have been started after June 1st and submitted before September 1st Midnight EST 2017.

3. Your film must be original video (video you shot yourself) or have permission to use).

4. Must be in English or with English subtitles.

5. You must incorporate the HMWOutdoors mission to engage and help 10 Million Youth have meaningful connections in/to the natural world that facilitate internal growth and environmental awareness by 12/31/27.

6. Any music must be original music or music you have permission from the artist to use. (please no lawsuits)

7. Film/short/spot/project length not to exceed 10 minutes, title and credits. (You do not have to fill up the entire 10 minutes. Be creative!!)

8. Stay tuned to this site for any updates to this list. As much as we want to keep it simple, you know how life is.

IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED, you must submit your film as a downloadable HD QuickTime File, either on Vimeo, FTP or by mail. NOTE: We can not download your film from FilmFreeway unless it is submitted from Vimeo with setting permitting download.

Not so small print:

- The deadline to submit is Midnight EST, September 1st 2017.

- An additional backup flash drive or DVD may be sent "just in case".

- We DO NOT accept films with excessive or gratuitous violence, or content that advocates or supports racial, cultural, religious, or gender bias.

- You take full responsibility for all content in your submitted work.

- By submitting this work for consideration, you attest that you hold all rights to exhibit the given work.

- You grant a non-exclusive, worldwide license to HMWOutdoors to have your film distributed via any and all media, promotional, and marketing channels owned our utilized by HMWOutdoors.com.

- Submission materials will not be returned.

- Accepted films will be notified during October 2017
