Loaded Mashed Potatoes - Just add water

Using a pot sized for the number of people you are feeding.

It is helpful to prepare the correct portions ahead of time.

Following the directions on the box. 

  1. Combine Instant Mashed Potatoes (per instructions)
  2. 1 tbsp of brown gravy (per serving)
  3. 2 Tbsp bacon pieces (not bacon bits & per serving)
  4. 1 tsp chives (per serving)
  5. 1 Tbsp hard cheese (does not need to be refrigerated from Foodsafety.gov)

With all the bacon this could be a main course, or a side for a really hearty meal.

We used this meal with our entire 10th grade at Carderock this September. Easy, light, and tasty. We also sauteed some onions and peppers. On longer trips we’ll add freeze dried veggies instead of carrying the fresh ones.
