After speaking with my new friend Angela Greenwell, she encouraged me to journal about this new adventure. This is my first post.

Starting Henry Morgan White, Inc. and launching HMWOutdoors is like being catapulted with a medieval trebuchet 50,000 feet into the air without a plane, wing or tarp all while having a 1000 pound weight attached to your ankle. Now while in air I'm simultaneously visualizing and building a plane, no a spaceship capable of breaking the bounds of gravity freeing my renewed self from the comforts and constraints of what was. All the while ensuring the ship is capable of carrying not just me but the weight of my vision. The weight of all we will accomplish. Its like starting an MBA program where you can't miss a single class.

What is our WHY. WHY HMWOutdoors why not HMWConstruction or HMWMedical, well they might be born one day. HMWOutdoors is a solution based on the problem we faced. I'm a parent of three children ages 13, 11, and 11. My crew needed camping gear as they progressed in their scouting programs. As a Cub Scout Committee Chair I often recommended places for parents to get gear for their scouts and students. After one too many scouts still showed up for campouts with cotton sleeping bags. I figured parents would benefit from a kit of essential gear. A simple bundle that included everything on a typical packing list, less clothing (not yet but soon). Based on that the idea for the YAK was conceived. 2 years later and now HMWOutdoor and the Youth Adventure Kit is born as our first kit of essential gear for programs and parents to ensure participants are prepared (read no more cotton sleeping bags, no more cheap disposable ponchos, no more household sized first aid kits, no more D cell flashlights,..... you get my point) for any outdoor adventure.

We are just getting warmed up.
